FEBRUARY 2010
RECRUITMENT SERVICES UPDATE
SUN SEARCH – MALLORCA
Mallorca waits to see what this year will bring. 4000 companies have closed their doors permanently in the past 12 months. New businesses arriving on the Island are mainly Call Centre telesales operations with very low basic salaries. Seasonal work in tourism will happen but on a smaller scale than we have been used to. The picture for 2010 is great for those of you entrepreneurs with money to invest – there has never been such a good time to start a business with low rents and employment subsidies.
The upside of the situation for newcomers is that thousands of people have left the Island because they could not afford to stay - leaving gaps for incomers. The downside is that if you arrive here with no money to support yourself and are dependant on wages to pay your bills you may be just as unlucky as the returnees.
Mallorca is a great place to live but with 20% of its workforce unemployed you have to have something mighty special about you to succeed here. Language skills and money to support yourself while you find work are two of the most basic essentials.
Sun Search will launch its multilingual Jobsboard in 2010 - We sincerely hope that the good times are just around the corner…………..
